October in So Cal is like a weather roller coaster ride! Hot, cold; windy, calm; clear, hazy; dry, muggy--you name it, we can get it in October! LOL The problem has always been how to dress for such a variety of conditions and many times all in the same day. Your outfit is a great choice. It's still on the casual side of summer with a nod to the formality of winter. In other words, it's great for October :-)
